The "Yes" Brain for Parents/Caregivers and Children

Last Updated 12/16/2021

This article is admittedly a little lengthy however so very interesting and worth the read.  It is not overly intellectualized.  It talks about the different reactions our brain has to hearing "yes" versus "no."  It's the difference between feeling "open, free, safe, and trusting" and feeling "frightened or small or closed or rigid...."

The four "yes" brain fundamentals are described by the acronym BRIE (my favorite cheese!!) The B is balance, the R is resilience, insight is I and empathy is E.  Each concept behind BRIE is explained.  The overall theme is a more trusting, successful, and compassionate relationship between the caregiver and child.

Remember - Be kind to yourself.
